About this course
Intended for individuals who wish to upskill or retrain within the digital sector, or who want to advance their studies in this field. As a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ), it provides learners with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to meet industry demands and employer expectations, covering six mandatory units (120 credits) across data legislation and security, the data lifecycle, database systems, stakeholder engagement, organisational data, and data mining and statistical analysis.

Can you apply?
Applicants must be 18 or older. No prior experience or technical skills are required — only a genuine interest and enthusiasm for data analysis. A relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g. A levels or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential.
Entry requires successful completion of an initial assessment and interview, and learners must demonstrate the literacy, numeracy and health & safety awareness needed to meet the learning outcomes.
Where this can take you
Graduates may progress to related apprenticeships at higher levels (e.g. Level 6 Data Scientist), higher education degrees in Data Science, Computer Science or Business Analytics, or other specialist training in data analysis, AI or software development. Employment opportunities include Junior Data Analyst, Data Analyst, Departmental Data Analyst, Energy Data Analyst, Marketing Data Analyst and Problem Analyst roles.

Student Support
A range of assessment methods are used throughout the programme, each aligned with the learning outcomes so students can demonstrate and apply the knowledge, skills and behaviours developed.
WIC promotes student involvement through representation in institutional meetings, surveys and feedback sessions — student representatives are elected each academic year, trained and hold regular meetings to represent students on teaching quality and support services, with the College encouraging voluntary participation via incentives.
